Was sceptical. Now I'm pleasantly surprised. I had expected the weight to be easier to manage, though.
Was on hand for the first jobs in the flat. The size we chose is right for what we have planned. After the move it was clear we didn't want to fetch tools from the family for every little thing. So the ladder was one of the first bigger purchases. So far we're happy with the choice. Especially as not everything is set up yet, it's nice to be able to fold it away after the job.
Was just right for the first jobs. So far I haven't noticed anything negative about the build quality.
Very handy for the trips to my parents'.
Very handy for the odd jobs around here. I'm still happy with the decision.
Very handy for the little jobs outside. I can get the folded ladder through the door easily. The retaining strap could be a bit wider for my liking.
Used it several times now, and the good impression holds. So far, I'd choose it again.
Unpacking was uneventful, everything looked sound. The good impression held up when I first tried it out.
Tried it out and it gets my approval. Would go for it again.
Took some getting used to, but it's going well now. I didn't find the small drawings much help at first.
They were friendly to deal with, thanks for that. I didn't have to explain my query three times. The first reply was still fairly general, the second one was then helpful.
There was room for it even among the removal boxes.
The version I ordered was delivered.
The tracking number came by email, worked fine. No guessing whether it had even been sent yet.
The start of the project didn't have to be put back because of the ladder. It did well on its first outing.
The short shape suits our house better. After the job, the ladder is quickly put to one side.
The service was friendly after delivery as well.
The sections extend smoothly for me. The steps for retracting it are easy to follow.
The right purchase for what we need. I find it comfortable to handle.
The reply was something I could actually work with. The ladder I bought suits what I've got planned. When it comes to tools, I don't automatically understand every term. So it mattered to me to get an answer I could make sense of without having to look things up. That worked here. The ladder has since been delivered and used. I get on well with the model, and the question I'd written in about has been sorted.
The reply was helpful and not pushy. The ladder I chose suits how I use it.
The reply helped me make my decision. As a non-expert, I could follow the explanation. I didn't get through to anyone on the phone at the first attempt.
The purchase has been a good fit at my parents'. After use there's space in the side room again.
The purchase came at just the right time for the work we had on. Once I've finished for the day, the ladder goes back in the room next door.
For my parents
The previous ladder was a nuisance to store.
For our jobs around the house
The photo was taken in the room after tidying up. The ladder has been out several times already and has been right for my jobs. Even a big ladder has to get out of the way at some point, and with it retracting that works well for us.
The parts fit together neatly. The plastic parts don't let it down either.
The parts delivered look decent. The ladder was packed clean and dry. The instructions were a bit crumpled in the box.
The parcel arrived in time for the weekend. Ordered, received, all went well.
The packaging looked worse than the contents. The contents were better protected than I expected.
The order was fulfilled correctly. The parcel was still sealed when it arrived.
The order felt good overall. I'd consider ordering again. The order emails could be a bit more concise.
The main steps made sense to me. The model made a good first impression on me.
The locks are easy for me to see. After getting to know it a bit, handling it became familiar.
After a few weeks
The ladder's already got a fair few jobs behind it. Using it feels familiar by now.
The ladder was here before we wanted to get started. I'd ordered a bit in advance.
The ladder strikes me as solid. The moving parts are easy to operate.
The ladder really does get used in our house. My initial uncertainty has gone. At first I still consciously watched every single movement. By now operating it is just part of the routine. That doesn't mean I skip the check, but it feels less unfamiliar. For my own jobs around the house the model suits well, and after use I still find the compact shape very practical. I find the strap a bit uncomfortable after a while.
The ladder often comes with me when I visit family.
Now in the shed
The ladder has been here a few weeks now and has already been used several times. I wanted a longer model for our jobs, but not one that's then always in the way across the shed. The 5.1 m one suits me well. After use it goes back here in its place. I was still a bit slow the first time I retracted it, but I know the routine now. Delivery was OK too. So far I'm glad I bought it.
The ladder gets surprisingly small after the job. The strap holds everything together when carrying it. We're living in the house we're currently renovating. So in the evenings the way through at least has to be clear. With my old ladder that was always a palaver. This one I can fold up and take into the side room. Sounds like a small thing, but it makes day-to-day life in between the jobs more pleasant.
The ladder fits in well by our tool shelves.
The ladder fits in nicely alongside my tools in the load space. It goes in without much manoeuvring. A bit less weight would be nice when you're loading it often.
The ladder came at just the right time for my to-do list. The next little project is already waiting. It wasn't all down to not having a ladder, there was a bit of laziness in there too. But with the new kit, the motivation was there. I set aside some time at the weekend and got a few things done. The ladder suited the job well. Afterwards it was nice to fold it down small and call it a day.
Reply was clear
The information was clear enough for me to decide.
The information about the parcel was helpful. I'm happy with the outcome.
Narrow hallway, short ladder
The format is good for our narrow doorways.
The final price was as shown. I'm happy with how the order was handled.
The difference when putting it away is obvious. You notice it when cleaning, too.
The compact shape makes it easier for me to carry. I use it on the house and I'm happy with it.

01Locking
Every rung individually locked.
As you extend the ladder, each rung locks into place with its own locking mechanism. A visible indicator shows you before you climb that everything is secure.
How it works
To retract it, release the locking mechanism at the push of a button. The ladder retracts rung by rung, and your fingers stay clear.
02Stability
Stability starts at the base.
The removable stabiliser bar widens the base, and the non-slip feet grip on tiles, concrete and paving.
Setting up correctly
For safe working, the ladder must stand on firm, level ground. Lean it at an angle of about 75°. The foot of the ladder is then a quarter of the resting height away from the wall.

Chose the 5.1 m deliberately
The 5.1 m was the right one for me. Retracted again, garage stays usable. Happy with it!

Delivered in good order
The 5.1 m one has arrived. Properly packed, everything there. First impression great.

I like how it works
One more close-up, of the retracted rungs. The buttons are easy to reach and how to work it made sense once I'd got to know it. Used it several times now, I'm happy with the ladder.

All fine at the bottom
No broken end caps or other flaws. That's how I'd hoped the delivery would be.

Practical for my trips
The 5.1 m one being loaded into the van. I secured it afterwards for the drive. Before, I had a long ladder that was in the way on every trip. This one is easier to fit in with the other tools.

Goes with the tool shelves
Closed up and stored in the cellar. That mattered to me with a bigger ladder, as I don't have a long free wall. I had to get to know how it works first, but I get on fine now.

What ladder length do I need for my job?
First measure the height of the spot you want to reach and the space available for setting up the ladder. This ladder is 5.10 m long when extended. That is not the height at which you stand or work: leaning at an angle of about 75°, it does not reach as high as its length, and the top rungs are not meant to be stood on.
Which length is right also depends on the work you are doing and how the ladder is set up. If in doubt, send us your measurements and a photo via live chat.
How heavy is the ladder, and how big is it when retracted?
This ladder weighs 14.0 kg and is 1.45 m long when retracted. That makes it easier to store and transport. The width of 45.8 cm applies to the extended ladder. Whether it fits in your car boot, cupboard or storage space also depends on its width and depth when retracted, and on the stabiliser bar. So measure up beforehand.
Can I carry, extend and retract the ladder on my own?
At 14.0 kg, many users can carry the retracted ladder on their own. You need enough space to set up the extended 5.10 m. How easy it is also depends on your strength and practice.
As you extend the ladder, each rung locks into place. To retract it, release the locking mechanism at the push of a button, and the ladder then retracts rung by rung. Follow the user instructions as you do so and keep your fingers out of the area between the rungs.
How stable is the ladder when fully extended?
Set up correctly, it stands securely. The removable stabiliser bar widens the base, the non-slip feet grip on firm surfaces such as tiles, concrete and paving, and each rung is locked individually.
What matters is how it is set up: firm, level ground, a leaning angle of about 75° and a resting point strong enough to take the load. Only use the ladder in the way the instructions allow. The stabiliser bar does not compensate for soft or sloping ground.
How can I tell that the ladder is locked correctly?
As you extend the ladder, each rung locks into place with its own locking mechanism. A visible indicator on the locking mechanism shows you before you climb whether it is secure. Before every climb, check the locking mechanisms of all the sections in use and inspect the rungs, stiles and feet for damage.
If a locking mechanism appears faulty or you are unsure, do not use the ladder and contact our customer service team.
Do tools and clothing count towards the maximum load?
Yes. The maximum load of 150 kg applies to everything combined: your body weight, clothing, shoes, tools and any materials you take up with you. So it is not 150 kg for the person plus the tools on top. Keep within this limit every time you use the ladder.
Which standard does this model meet?
This model is declared as conforming to the EN 131 standard. EN 131 is the European standard for portable ladders. It sets out requirements and tests, for example for load capacity, stability and build quality.
The standard is no substitute for correct use: observe the maximum load of 150 kg, the safety label and the user instructions. Whether the ladder is permitted for a particular professional use depends on the regulations that apply there.
Can I return the ladder if it isn’t right for me?
Yes, if you are buying as a consumer. You have 14 days from receipt to notify us of your cancellation, and then a further 14 days to send the ladder back. Email contact@rungfield.com or use the ‘Cancel your contract’ form. You bear the cost of the return shipment.
You may examine the ladder as far as is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning. If your use goes beyond that, you may have to pay compensation for the loss in value. You will find all the details in the cancellation policy.
