You stay nicely in control when operating it. That made it easier for me to get started.

Wrote in about one of the operating steps. It's clear now. That was help, not a sales pitch. The answer was correct, but kept a bit brief.

Would go for the same size again for my needs.

Looks good

Would choose this version again. The stickers aren't really to my taste, looks-wise.

When loading up there's still usable space left beside it. I don't have to repack everything else.

When it comes to putting it away, I don't regret the switch for a second. I can now open the door all the way.

When carrying it through, I don't have to watch so closely where the end is. That's a good fit for our cramped rooms.

When I extend it, I can see what's clicked into place. I took my time over it the first time.

Went for this model deliberately after comparing for quite a while. I'm happy with the build quality so far.

Second address made easier

Well suited to going back and forth between two houses. That works well for my occasional trips.

Well explained, that helped me. The ladder I bought suits what I've got planned.

Part of the renovation

We're renovating one room at a time while living in the house. The borrowed ladder kept having to go back in between, which eventually just got annoying. Hence our own 3.8 m one now. I've got the hang of operating it now, though at first I had to take a look at the joints. In the photo work's already done for the day, which is why it's standing there retracted again. The room still needs work, but at least I'm no longer constantly without the right kit.

We both get on well with the ladder. Everyone knows where the ladder's kept by now.

Was just right for the first jobs. The ladder has already been used several times. Delivery could have been a bit quicker.

Right for the house

Very happy with it around the house so far. My wife and I both get on fine with it. They're not huge projects, but there's always some little thing that needs doing. I used to have to get hold of a ladder first. Now I've got the right one at home. That's the real difference for me. After a few weeks I can say I haven't regretted buying it so far.

Very handy for the trips to my parents'. I don't have to empty the whole car for it. I help out the family now and then and bring my own tools along. The old ladder was the most annoying part of that. With this one, packing has become much easier. Of course it still has to be secured properly, but I don't have to arrange the whole car around a long ladder first.

Very handy for the little jobs outside.

Unpacking was pleasantly straightforward this time. A tidy delivery makes a big difference. There was rather a lot of packaging material for my liking.

Took a quiet moment to go through the steps properly. Closing it up now goes much more smoothly.

Comes along with me now

This is how it lay in our van while we were loading, the straps went on afterwards. Need it quite often at my parents'. With the old ladder all the driving about was more of a hassle, this one is easy to take along with the tools.

They were friendly to deal with, thanks for that.

There's plenty to do in the new house. We're getting on fine with how it handles. We're not doing everything at once, just one room at a time. So the tools have to be put away again in between. The ladder suits that way of working. It's now been used for several small jobs and can be stowed away again afterwards. It was a sensible purchase for our household.

Parcel easy to track

The tracking link was helpful. Could read the notification on my phone as well.

The steps for retracting it are easy to follow.

The start of the project didn't have to be put back because of the ladder. Unpacking it held no surprises.

The short length is handy when moving things around, too.

The right ladder arrived. So the first impression was positive straight away.

The reply was helpful and not pushy. I'm happy with the model that was delivered.

The purchase has been a good fit at my parents'. The previous ladder was a nuisance to store. We help out with little things at our parents' house every now and then. Until now someone had to bring a ladder along for that. Now there's one on the spot that can be tucked away nicely between jobs. We went through how it works and tried it out together. It's made things much easier for our situation.

The product matches the first impression I got from the shop.

The price matches my impression so far. The product doesn't feel cheaply put together.

First impression is good

The parts delivered look decent. The model is the version I chose. There was an awful lot of tape in the way when I opened it.

The parcel arrived in time for the weekend. That's how I picture a normal order going.

The packaging looked worse than the contents.

The order was fulfilled correctly. The product seems solid too. Only the dispatch message struck me as a bit muddled.

The order of the steps was clear once I'd had a look. The ladder's been used several times now.

The order felt good overall.

For our garage

The old ladder always stood crossways behind the bikes. The 3.8 m one can finally be put away properly. I've used it twice now and get on well with it. This is what it looks like in our garage.

The new ladder isn't just used by one person here. The first joint project is already done.

The main steps made sense to me. The new mechanism soon didn't feel so unfamiliar.

The long ladder was always in the way. That was my main reason for buying.

The locks are easy for me to see. Using it so far has been straightforward. With a telescopic ladder it mattered to me to be able to follow the individual steps. The locks are easy for me to reach and I get on fine with the procedure. After the first few uses it's already become more familiar. So the ladder suits my occasional jobs well, without me having to think long and hard every time.

The little jobs around the house are finally getting done. After the job I can put it away easily. For me it's not quite ideal to carry yet.

The ladder's already standing by for the weekend.

The ladder often comes with me when I visit family. I don't have to go finding a ladder when I get there.

The ladder looks decent and is easy to operate. The impression stayed good after the first use too.

For the new flat

The ladder is now part of our basic kit. There was room for it even among the removal boxes.

The ladder is now part of my garden kit. After use it goes back in the dry.

The ladder is a sensible addition to our tools. Extending and retracting it works properly for me.

The ladder has found its place in the renovation work. Being able to fold it away is handy in a house you're living in.

I can manage the buttons

I'd never had a telescopic ladder before. After trying it out once, the business with the locks made sense. Took a closer photo of that area because I always look for detail shots like this before buying. Happy so far.

Fits in the shed

Bought the multi-purpose ladder for our work on the summer house. I got on fine the first time I used it, then pushed it back together and stood it here. Just how I'd imagined it!

Stored away nicely

The cellar's full enough, but there was still a corner free for this. The 3.8 m was the right choice for us. Would go for it again.

Frequently asked questions

What you should know before you climb up.

Is delivery free, and is there a 5-year warranty?

Yes, delivery within the UK is free, with no minimum order value. The estimated delivery time is 3 to 5 working days. You will receive an order tracking link by email.

The ladder also comes with a 5-year warranty against manufacturing and material defects. In the event of a warranty claim, we will repair or replace your ladder. There is no need to register; simply keep your invoice. Our customer service team will help you in English by email or via live chat. This does not affect your statutory warranty rights.

What ladder length do I need for my job?

First measure the height of the spot you want to reach and the space available. This ladder is 3.80 m long as a leaning ladder and 1.90 m high as an A-frame ladder. Neither is the height at which you stand or work: the top rungs are not meant to be stood on, and when leaning, the ladder does not reach as high as its length.

The right position depends on the work you are doing. If in doubt, send us your measurements and a photo via live chat.

How heavy is the ladder, and how big is it when retracted?

This ladder weighs 12.5 kg and is 95 cm long when retracted. That makes it easier to store and transport. The width of 45.8 cm applies to the extended ladder. Whether it fits in your car boot, cupboard or storage space also depends on its width and depth when retracted, and on the stabiliser bar. So measure up beforehand.

Can I carry, extend and retract the ladder on my own?

At 12.5 kg, many users can carry the retracted ladder on their own. How easy it is, however, also depends on your strength and practice. When you convert the ladder, the hinges click into place and can be locked. To do this, place the ladder on a clear, level surface.

Extend, convert and retract the ladder as described in the user instructions. As you do so, keep your fingers out of the area where rungs and hinges come together.

How stable is the ladder when fully extended?

Set up correctly, it stands securely. The removable stabiliser bar widens the footprint on the ground, even as an A-frame ladder. The hinges click into place and can be locked.

What matters is how it is set up: firm, level ground and only the positions that the instructions allow. As a leaning ladder, lean it at an angle of about 75° against a surface strong enough to take the load. As an A-frame ladder, it must be fully opened, with the hinges clicked into place. The stabiliser bar does not compensate for soft or sloping ground.

How can I tell that the ladder is locked correctly?

The locking mechanisms and hinges have an indicator that shows whether they have engaged. Before every climb, check the locking mechanisms of all the sections in use and inspect the rungs, stiles and feet for damage. After every change of position, also check that all the hinges have clicked into place.

If a locking mechanism appears faulty or you are unsure, do not use the ladder and contact our customer service team.

Do tools and clothing count towards the maximum load?

Yes. The maximum load of 150 kg applies to everything combined: your body weight, clothing, shoes, tools and any materials you take up with you. So it is not 150 kg for the person plus the tools on top. Keep within this limit every time you use the ladder.

Which standard does this model meet?

This model is declared as conforming to the EN 131 standard. EN 131 is the European standard for portable ladders. It sets out requirements and tests, for example for load capacity, stability and build quality.

The standard is no substitute for correct use: observe the maximum load of 150 kg, the safety label and the user instructions. Whether the ladder is permitted for a particular professional use depends on the regulations that apply there.

Can I return the ladder if it isn’t right for me?

Yes, if you are buying as a consumer. You have 14 days from receipt to notify us of your cancellation, and then a further 14 days to send the ladder back. Email contact@rungfield.com or use the ‘Cancel your contract’ form. You bear the cost of the return shipment.

You may examine the ladder as far as is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning. If your use goes beyond that, you may have to pay compensation for the loss in value. You will find all the details in the cancellation policy.
